Introduction

Medical term for hair loss is called alopecia". Alopecia is common name of hair loss. Because of this, we can use the term of “alopecia” as hair loss.. The word alopecia  comes from Latin, but can be derived from Greek "alopekia," which  means "fox." When we  translated, the word alopecia (alopekia) is meaning  mange in foxes.

There are a lot of reason for hairloss. Some of them have alopecia in their title, for example alopecia areata or scarring alopecia, but most of them do not, like telogen effluvium.

Alopecia has a lot of causes like  genetics to the environment. While androgenetic alopecia  is by far the most general form of hair loss, dermatologists also consult a lot of patient  who has other forms of alopecia. Several thousand  diseases have hair loss like a primary symptom.

Generally  the most known  non-AGA alopecias a doctors  will see are telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, ringworm, scarring alopecia, and hair loss due to cosmetic overprocessing. Other, more little forms of hair loss may be hard to understand  , and some patients need to  wait for months, sometimes  years for a correct diagnosis by several doctors until they see one with knowledge of their situation. Also, with rare diseases, there is not so high motivation for consults to be founded  and for cures to be developed. Generally, even when a correct cure is made, a doctor can advice no known cure for the condition.

Research into hair anatomy  and hair problems is a very small area, and even research on androgenetic alopecia is quite limited. Perhaps 15  years ago there were fewer than 100 people  who tried to find solution about  hair problems  in a major way. Nowadays, there may be six  times as many. This is still a low  amount when we  compare, but predicted numbers of researchers about hair biology is good, and also  should lead to a better comprehensive and more help for this kind of alopecias.
