Ringworm
It is known a fungal infection.
Ringworm is first and famous infectious skin problem and can occur
anywhere on the body, but if it develops on the scalp it can be a reason
of patches of hair fall. When it happens on the scalp the professional
name for ringworm is "tinea capitis". Ringworm is the same
thing as athletes foot, and the same type of fungal infection can affect
even the nails. Ringworm of the
scalp generally begins as a small pimple that progressively increases in
size, leaving scaly patches of baldness. The fungus gets into the hair
fibers In the affected side and these hairs become brittle and break off
easily leaving a bald patch of the body. The affected parts are generally
itchy, red and inflamed, scaly patches that may be blushed too. The
patches are generally more red around the outside with a more normal skin
color in the center. This may occur the appearance of a ring.
All around the world, the fungus Microsporum
audouini is a very known reason
of ringworm, but increasingly Trichophyton tonsurans can
also be a reasoon of tinea
capitis, generally in Latin American regions. Other fungi that may occur
tinea capitis include Trichophyton schoenleinii, Trichophyton
megninii in Southern Europe and Africa, and Trichophyton
violaceum in the Middle East region. You can also caught ringworm
from pets that keep the fungus, and cats in particular are common
carriers. Ringworm can be passed from one person to the next easily by
touching. You can also catch ringworm through touching with contaminated
objects such as combs, dirty clothing, and shower or pool surfaces.
Remedy for ringworm types depending on the general
fungus involved. Some kinds of ringworm infection will resolve visibly
and so no cure may be given. Mostly
though an antibiotic named Griseofulvin can be taken. Griseofulvin
is very well against fungi in hair and skin but it is not so successful
at treating bacterial infections.
Folliculitis
Folliculitis is a name for focal
problem of hair follicles. It seems like acne with little rings of
inflammation around and opening of
a hair follicle. In the early times of a folliculitis the hair fiber may
still be ocur in the middle of the folliculitis, but as the folliculitis
duration the hair often falls out. When folliculitis is severe, the
inflammation is so hard that it can generally permanently gives harm to
the hair follicles, leaving small bald patches. There are types of
folliculitis which are non-infectious for example those caused by oils
and greases applied to the skin that clog up the hair follicles, hence
folliculitis is generally happens due to a bacterial infection.
Piedra
Piedra (Trichomycosis Nodularis) is a
problem where the hair fibers are effected by a fungus. The clear indicator of a piedra infection is
seeing of hard nodules on hair fibers. There are two kinds of piedra, black and white piedra, based to the color of
the nodules formed on the hair fiber. The infection may destroy hairs of the scalp, body and
genital parts. Generally the infection is connected with benign. In some
regions of Malaysia, the nodules of black piedra are considered
attractive and generally women encouraged its growth by sleeping with
their hair buried in the soil. Also, when the infection is severe the fungus
weakens the hair fiber making it simple to break off. This can be a
reason in a patchy - diffuse hair fall. Cure generally involves shaving
off affected parts or a topical application of salycylic acid,
formaldehyde.
Seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis is
not an infectious illness, but it can ocur an infection. Seborrheic
dermatitis is first and famous for a skin condition, but it can also
involve temporary hair fall if the dermatitis is located on the scalp or other
terminal-haired skin parts. The dermatitis presents as scaly, rarely
oily, inflamed skin that can be itchy, red or also painful to touch. This
is an inflammatory problem the reason of which is not well understood,
although there does seem to be a genetic reasons and Caucasians,
particularly of Celtic descent, are most susceptible.
There are several treatments for seborrheic dermatitis.
The simplest cure involves the usage of medicated anti-dandruff type
products to control the skin proliferation and scaling. A lot of shampoos
might be adviced for alternating try on different days and every with its own particular activity.
Shampoos for seborrheic dermatitis can contain sulfur, selenium sulfide, zinc
pyrithione, tar, salicylic acid, or oil of Cade. These products have been
sold for many years. Nowadays Azole content shampoos (Ketoconazole - Nizoral)
have been sold over the counter. Also medicated products may contain
fluconazole. All can be effective in tp solve the seborrheic dermatitis
problem. Some doctors may also prescribe antibiotics to control the skin flora
and in doing so deeply decrease the inflammation.
